The mission of the Savannah Silver Summit Task Force is to develop and implement plans that will return 10% of Savannah’s $1.7 billion of African Americans, buying power (personal disposable income) to African American businesses. This mission will be achieved by educating all facets of the Black Community on the importance of purchasing goods and services from Black businesses and professionals. Thus, the members of the Savannah Silver Summit Task Force are initiating and promoting a program of Black Intra-Community Economics, Black ICE is the acronym for Black Intra-Community Economics.
One leader was quoted as saying that “integration liberation white business to take all of Black people’s money. While success was achieved at ending segregation, the economic consequences and self-sufficiency of the Black community were not foreseen. The Silver Rights Movement is a struggle or campaign to bring about the economic self-employment of African Americans. “Silver Rights” is the expression coined by Rev. Jesse Jackson in 1976, to point out the need for Blacks to work for economic self-sufficiency while continuing the struggle for civil rights. What is the importance of Savannah Silver Summit Task Force? The Silver Summit Task Force embraces the concept of Black Ice, (Black Intra-Community Economics) Intra-Community Economics (Black ICE) African American must make a conscientious and deliberated effort to purchase goods and services from Black business and professionals. |
